Founded in the 19th century by William Wrigley Jr in Chicago, which remains the global headquarters of its operations to this day, the firm has some 15,000 employees.

Key categories & brands

One of the world's leading confectionery producers, Wrigley's range of sweets and gums are often among the market leaders within their respective fields.

A particularly popular product is the bite-sized chewy candy Skittles. With its Original brand consisting of a mixture of fruity flavours, Tropical and Wild Berry are among the other varieties available. The product can be purchased in the United States, Australia, United Kingdom and several other countries.

Producing a wide variety of chewing gums, one of the leading brands the Chicago-based firm makes isWrigley's Spearmint. Launched in 1893, the product can be purchased throughout North, Central and South America. It is also available in several European countries including Luxembourg, Portugal, Latvia and Croatia. Nepal, Kenya and Malaysia are just a few of the other countries the iconic gum is sold in across the world.

Also included in the firm's gum portfolio is Extra. Launched in 1984, it was Wrigley's first sugar-free gum to be made available in the United States. Made in a variety of flavours produced to regional tastes, the gum is also offered in countries such as Canada, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Germany. In the United Kingdom, the product is the official chewing gum of the Premier League, the country's leading soccer division.

Another sugar-free gum made by the firm is 5, which comes in both single and multi-packs. The names of its flavours include Flare, Cobalt, Elixir and Lush, with Russia, Spain, Germany and New Zealand among the countries it is sold in.

Hubba Bubba was the company's first-ever bubblegum. Made in the United States in the late 1970s, the brand has expanded into a range of gums and candy, with products including Hubba Bubba Glop and Hubba Bubba, as well as numerous seasonal and limited edition varieties.

Starburst, the fruity chewy sweet, is also one of Wrigley's main lines and is available in the United Kingdom - where it was first produced - Australia, the United States and Ireland. The confectionery was initially known as Opal Fruits.

First made in 1780 to offer relief to those suffering from an upset stomach, Altoids has gradually developed into a popular mint. Sold in a durable metal tin, the miniature mints come in a variety of flavours - such as peppermint and cinnamon - and are the number one selling mint in the United States. Furthermore, the Altoids brand has expanded into the gum and breath strips markets.

Other products from the firm include cinnamon-flavoured Big Red chewing gum, Orbit gum and Creme Savers, a fruit and creme swirled candy.
